Reactive red 218 - Introduction
Reactive Red P-6B is an organic synthetic dye, also known as Red No. 6, which belongs to a class of azo dyes. It has a bright red color and is widely used in industries such as textiles, leather, plastics, inks and pigments.
The preparation of reactive red P-6B is usually obtained by the diazotization reaction of aniline and dinitrobenzene. Aniline was first dissolved in hydrochloric acid and then diazotized by addition of sodium nitrite. The diazo compound is then reacted with dinitrobenzene to produce reactive red P-6B.
